SUP Pup Kalani — Heavenly by Name, Royal by Nature

For more than a decade, Bluet SUP has been shaped by the people — and pups — who have paddled beside us. Many longtime guests remember our first SUP Pup, Sophie, the gentle Great Pyrenees who hopped onto a paddleboard at nine years old and became a symbol of courage and connection. Her spirit still lives in every sunrise paddle.

Six years ago, another little heartbeat arrived to carry that legacy forward.

The Meaning of Kalani

The name Kalani in Hawaiian means “the heavens” or “the sky.”
It also carries the meaning “royal” or “heavenly beauty.”

From the moment she joined us at just six weeks old, she embodied every bit of it. Her first paddle was under a full moon — a magical beginning for a pup destined to grow up on the water.

Growing Up on the Lake

Kalani has spent her entire life at Pilot Knoll Park. The shoreline is her playground, the docks her stage, and the paddleboards her chariots. She has become our official SUP Pup Welcome Committee, greeting every guest with the warmth of an old friend.

She loves:

  • Greeting kids with her whole body wagging
  • Jumping onto any paddleboard that needs a co‑captain
  • Posing for photos like she’s media‑trained
  • Balancing like a seasoned yogi
  • And yes… sending me into the lake if she spots a squirrel near shore

She has grown up with our community — season after season, paddle after paddle.

The Royal One of Pilot Knoll

Around the lake, Kalani has earned another title: the royal one.

Maybe it’s the way she carries herself with effortless grace.
Maybe it’s the way she surveys the shoreline like it’s her kingdom.
Maybe it’s her calm confidence and gentle presence.

Whatever the reason, everyone at Pilot Knoll Park recognizes her quiet royalty.
She is heavenly by name, regal by nature — our SUP Pup Kalani, the Royal One of the lake.
